Fellowship Programme in Ophthalmology: 2024 – 2025

Trinity Super Speciality Eye Hospital offers short-term fellowships in Ophthalmology

  • Phacoemulsification Fellowship (3 Months)
  • Medical Retina Fellowship (3 Months)

Fellowship training combines outpatient, inpatient and surgical experience in an ophthalmic sub speciality. The fellow assumes increasing responsibility for patient care, under the supervision of eminent faculty members responsible for the program. Research is considered an important aspect of speciality training and a major prerequisite for assimilating future developments in ophthalmology.

Fellows are expected to undertake independent investigation or to participate in one of the ongoing research projects in a basic or clinical field related to their speciality. Time is allotted appropriately for this experience, and its value is enhanced by careful supervision, availability of laboratory facilities, and access to technical assistance

Short Term Fellowship Programme

During the course of the fellowship, there is ample opportunity for fellows to handle general ophthalmic cases independently and consult with the faculty of various sub-specialities in related ophthalmic diseases. This enables them to draw upon the expertise of various specialists. They also have an opportunity to perform surgeries independently, and follow up on surgical cases.

The goal is to target the Ophthalmologists who have recently completed residency through intensive training to impart skills in the recent advances in the diagnosis understanding research methodology and critical appraisal of published literature as well as carrying out a prospective study are integral to the fellowship.

Phacoemulsification Fellowship Program

Trinity Super Speciality Hospital offers Short term fellowship in Phacoemulsification for a period of 3 months. The training program comprises of orientation program, instructional videos, power point presentations and wet lab sessions. Subsequently candidate gets a chance to perform surgeries and observe senior consultants. The candidate also gets to work in the OPD, in evaluation and follow-up of the patients.

Terms & Conditions

  • Your work location will be at Trinity Super Speciality Hospital Palakkad & other branches. During your work you will be asked to look after the OPD, Surgeries, Camp followed by various departments.

Pre-requisite

  • The candidate should bring their apron, 90D & direct ophthalmoscope.
  • Candidate should maintain the log book which will be provided by the institution.
  • Should be wearing the ID card during the duty time and in the hospital campus.

  • Surgeries Offered : 20 - 25 Cases
  • Course Fee : 65,000 (Without Accommodation)
  • Course Fee : 75,000 (With Accommodation)
  • Stipend : Rs. 50,000/-
