Short Term Fellowship In Phacoemulsification

Course Objectives

This short-term training programme in phacoemulsification for practising ophthalmologist is aimed at training the candidates to gain experience in performing Phaco surgery with perfection, accurate pre-op assessment, decision making on the type of IOL to be implanted and post operative care of the patients.

Highlights of the Course

  • Structured classes on pre-op assessment, per operative management and post op management.
  • Classes on OT and CSSD maintenance and documentation.
  • Access to higher end Phaco machine, microscopes and other facilities.
  • Video assisted lectures on Phaco dynamics, different technique of nucleus management, newer IOLs, newer Phaco machines and Phaco in challenging situations.
  • Video recording of Candidate’s cases and analysis and corrective measures of the technique.
  • Maintenance of the case records of the performed surgeries.
  • Performing surgeries under direct supervision of the senior surgeons.
  • On request the candidate can perform premium cases like Toric IOL and multifocal IOL provided the lens cost should be taken by the candidate. This should be informed well ahead so that the necessary arrangements can be made.

Observing difficult surgeries like Small Pupil, Hard Cataract, CTR, Pupil Expanders and Anterior Vitrectomy.

Programme Details Eligibility Criteria

Qualified practising Ophthalmologist with MS/DO/DNB degree from recognized university with minimum 2 years experience in IOL surgeries

  • No of Position: 2 per month
  • Duration of Course: 1 month
  • Starting Date: 1 st of every month
  • Training Centres: Palakkad
  • Number of Cases Given: 20 Phacoemulsifications

Candidates should bring their aprons, 90D, and hard disc to record their surgeries.
