Comprehensive Cataract Fellowship Programme

Trinity Eye Hospital offers long term fellowship in SICS and Phacoemulsification for a period of 12 months. The training program comprises of orientation, case discussions clinical posting in outpatient and surgical units. The fellow assumes increasing responsibility for patient care, under the supervision of eminent faculty members responsible for the program. During the course of the fellowship, there is ample opportunity for fellows to handle general ophthalmic cases independently and consult with the faculty of various subspecialties in related ophthalmic diseases. This enables them to draw upon the expertise of various specialists. They also have an opportunity to perform surgeries independently, and follow up on surgical cases.

Course Structure

First 15 days

  • Observation & Orientation to Hospital & Specialty Clinics

Third week – End of second month

  • OT assisting and Block room posting

  • Preoperative and Postoperative examinations
  • Case Presentation

Third month – Fourth month

  • SICS starting steps

Fourth Month  - Sixth month

  • Start SICS under surgeon surveillance
  • PHACO assisting for surgeons
  • General OP posting

Sixth Month onwards

  • SICS individual

Program Fees and Stipend Details

  • Course fees: 50,000 (INR)

      Stipend

  • First Six Months INR(40,000 + 5,000 for accommodation)
  • Second Six Months INR(45,000 + 5,000 for accommodation)

Terms and Conditions

  • During the Fellowship tenure the candidate will be given opportunity to perform minimum of 100 surgeries.
  • During the Fellowship tenure the candidate will be posted in the branch hospital(s) / sub centers / camps & outreach activities including tied up hospitals. The candidate will be utilized as a resource person for the academic programs conducted by Trinity School of Optometry.
  • After the duration of 1 year the candidate will have to compulsorily work with Trinity Eye Hospitals for the next 6 months as Junior Consultant.
  • During this tenure you will be provided Rs. 70,000 as your salary and Rs. 5,000 for accommodation.
  • Your work location will be at Trinity Eye Hospital branches as well as the sub centers. During your work period you are asked to look after the OPD, surgeries, camp followed by various departments.
  • After the completion of your 6 months’ work period we will consider your performance skill and if you are interested you can also join as a consultant for our TRINITY groups.
  • Tax will be deducted at source

Pre requisite

  • The candidate should bring their apron, 90D & direct ophthalmoscope.
  • Candidate should maintain the log book which will be provided by the Eye Hospital.
  • Should be wearing the ID card during the duty time & in the hospital campus.
